Dear Southside Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the blossoming of spring. As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to update you on some important happenings at our school.

ISATs Completed, IRI Window Opened:

Firstly, I want to extend my gratitude to our students for their hard work and dedication during the Idaho Standards Achievement Tests (ISATs). These assessments are an important tool for us to gauge our students' progress and identify areas where we can offer additional support. I'm pleased to announce that our ISAT testing has been successfully completed.

Now, as we move forward, we enter the Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI) window for students in grades K-3. This assessment is critical in evaluating our students' reading proficiency and guiding our efforts in literacy instruction. Teachers will be working diligently to administer the IRI tests in the coming weeks, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to demonstrate their reading skills.

Parent Volunteers Needed for Jogathon:

We have an exciting event approaching on our school calendar - the annual Jogathon! This year, the Jogathon will take place during the weeks of May 20th to May 31st (please note that the 24th and 27th are non student days). To make this event a success, we are in need of parent volunteers to assist from 11:20 AM to 12:10 PM during these two weeks. Your support in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our students during this event is greatly appreciated. Please contact your child’s teacher to volunteer.

Lost and Found Overflow:

Lastly, I want to bring your attention to our lost and found situation. With the change in seasons, our lost and found area has seen an overflow of items. To streamline the process of reclaiming lost belongings, most items have been bagged and temporarily relocated to the gymnasium. If you are missing any items, please check in with the front office, and our office staff will be happy to direct you to the overflow center.

Thank you for your attention to these updates. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our staff.  Together, we can ensure a successful conclusion to the school year for our students.

Warmest regards,

Jennifer Smith
